01Civils & drainage · Case study

JDPipes.

A national civils and drainage merchant that needed a digital storefront as sharp as its branch network — searchable stock, clear product data and ordering paths trade customers actually use.

02The brief

Trade buyers do not hunt. They find and order.

What we were hired to fix

Drainage and civils ranges are deep, technical and branch-aware. If search, specifications and availability are messy, buyers fall back to phone and email — and the site becomes a brochure instead of a channel.

The brief was to make product discovery and ordering feel as dependable as walking into a JDP branch.

03What we delivered

Catalogue clarity, then conversion.

We structured product data, navigation and search around how contractors and merchants actually buy — not how a generic ecommerce theme assumes they shop.

Engineering review covered catalogue performance, checkout paths and the operational realities of a multi-branch estate.

  1. 01

    Structure the catalogue.

Categories, SKUs and collections match how the buyer already shops — trade, wholesale or consumer.

  2. 02

    Make the product honest.

Photos, prices, case sizes and stock cues on the card. No mystery between listing and basket.

  3. 03

    Shorten the checkout.

Account, guest or reorder paths with fewer blockers between intent and paid order.

  4. 04

    Ready for the next range.

Promos, vendors and repeat orders sit on the same rails so growth does not mean a rebuild.

04Outcomes

What good looked like.

Findable stock.

Ranges organised so trade customers reach the right fitting, pipe or system without a phone call.

Order-ready flows.

Paths from browse to basket that respect B2B behaviour, not consumer gimmicks.

A site that can grow.

Structure that survives new ranges, campaigns and branch messaging without a rebuild every quarter.

Next step

When the catalogue is honest, the branch network and the website pull in the same direction.

A short call with the person who would run it — not a sales script.
