1. What this policy covers.
This Cookie Policy explains how VibeCoders uses cookies and similar technologies on https://vibecoders.org.uk (vibecoders.org.uk). It should be read with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal data more broadly.
“Similar technologies” include local storage, session storage, pixels, tags and scripts that store or read information on your device.
3. Legal framework (UK).
In the UK, cookies are regulated primarily by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), read alongside UK GDPR.
Strictly necessary cookies that are essential to provide a service you request can be used without consent. Non-essential cookies (for example most analytics, advertising and non-essential preference cookies) require prior consent, unless an exemption applies.
We design our cookie practice to match that split: essential by default; optional only with consent when those tools are enabled.
4. Current state of this Site.
The Site is a marketing website built as a client-side application. At the time this policy was last updated:
- We do not operate a first-party advertising cookie programme on the Site.
- We do not load a consent-gated analytics suite (such as Google Analytics) by default in the published application code.
- Contact flows typically open your email client or use direct email; they do not require an account cookie.
- Hosting, CDN, TLS and security layers operated by our infrastructure providers may process technical data (including IP addresses) as part of delivering the Site. That processing is described further in our Privacy Policy.
Some content is loaded from third-party sources (for example remote images or video hosts used in demos or case visuals). Those requests may allow the third party to receive your IP address and standard browser metadata. Depending on the provider’s configuration, they may set their own cookies. We minimise unnecessary embeds where practical.
5. Categories of cookies we may use.
We group technologies as follows. Exact names and durations will be listed in a cookie table or consent tool when non-essential cookies are introduced.
A. Strictly necessary
- Required to deliver the Site securely and reliably (for example load balancing, TLS session continuity, bot protection, or remembering a cookie-consent choice so we know not to ask repeatedly).
- These do not require consent under PECR, but we still describe them for transparency.
B. Preferences / functionality (if enabled)
- Remember choices such as reduced-motion preference, dismissed notices, or UI preferences that are not strictly necessary.
- Used only with consent where PECR requires it.
C. Analytics / performance (if enabled)
- Help us understand aggregated traffic, popular pages, referral sources and technical errors so we can improve the Site.
- Where analytics cookies are not strictly necessary, we will request consent before setting them and honour refusal.
D. Marketing / advertising (if enabled)
- Used to measure campaign effectiveness or build audiences. Not used by default on this Site today.
- Would only be activated with prior consent and clear controls to withdraw.
6. Cookie inventory (baseline).
Because the Site currently ships without a first-party analytics or ads stack, there is no extensive first-party marketing cookie list to publish. The baseline inventory is:
- Essential hosting / security cookies: may be set by our host, reverse proxy or CDN to operate the Site. Names vary by provider and are typically short-lived or security-scoped.
- Consent record cookie (when a banner is active): stores whether you accepted or rejected optional categories, so we can respect your choice. Typically first-party; retention commonly 6–12 months.
- Third-party media: requests to external image or video URLs may involve third-party cookies under that provider’s control. Prefer browser controls or content blockers if you wish to limit those.
When we add named analytics or marketing cookies, we will update this section with cookie name, provider, purpose, type and maximum duration before those tools go live.
7. Consent and your choices.
If we introduce non-essential cookies, you will see a consent mechanism that lets you accept or reject optional categories before those cookies are set (except where already exempt as strictly necessary).
You can change your mind later by clearing cookies in your browser and revisiting the Site, or via any “Cookie settings” control we provide in the footer or banner.
Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal.
8. Browser controls.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Controls differ by browser and device. Useful starting points:

- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Apple Safari — Settings → Privacy → Cookies and website data

If you block all cookies, some Site features (including remembering consent preferences) may not work correctly.
You can also use browser “Do Not Track” or global privacy controls; support varies and is not a substitute for PECR consent where consent is required.
9. Local storage and similar technologies.
Modern web apps sometimes use local storage or session storage instead of cookies. We treat non-essential uses of those technologies in the same spirit as cookies: transparency, minimisation, and consent where PECR/UK GDPR require it.
Essential storage needed solely to deliver a page feature you requested may be used without a marketing-style consent prompt.
10. Changes to this policy.
We will update this Cookie Policy when our cookie practices change materially — for example when adding analytics. The “Last updated” date will reflect the revision.
